Four difficulties

Rated by the techniques you’ll need, honestly

Every sheet is graded by actually solving it with a ladder of human techniques — not by counting empty cells. A sparse grid can be gentle and a fuller one brutal; what matters is the reasoning the puzzle demands.

Easy

Solvable start to finish with singles alone — every step is a cell or house with exactly one possible digit. You will never need pencil marks on an Easy sheet; it prints with about 40 givens.

Medium

Singles alone will stall. You’ll need the next tools in the kit — locked candidates (a digit pinned to one row or column inside a box) and naked or hidden pairs — to break it open.

Hard

Resists the Medium kit. Expect serious pencil-mark work: triples, X-Wings, or a long grind where the standard techniques carry you deep into the grid before the puzzle fights back.

Expert

The whole standard kit stalls early. Around 24 givens, still exactly one solution — but reaching it on paper takes heavy candidate bookkeeping, chains, or fearless what-if forks.

Under the hood

How these puzzles are made

Built, then carved

Your browser first builds a complete valid grid with randomized backtracking, then removes digits one by one — keeping a removal only if a solution-counting check proves the puzzle still has exactly one answer. No sheet printed here can ever dead-end or turn ambiguous.

Graded by solving

Each candidate puzzle is handed to a solver that only knows human techniques — singles, locked candidates, pairs, triples, X-Wing. The rung of that ladder the puzzle actually requires is the difficulty on the label, so Easy never needs pencil marks and Expert truly resists the standard kit.

Seeded by the date

Every sheet grows from a seed, and the seed is today’s date — which is why the whole world sees the same four sheets each day, and why tomorrow brings four new ones. Bookmark this page and it’s always current. For sheets on demand, at any difficulty, any time, that’s the app’s built-in Print feature.

Made for paper

Printing strips everything but the boards: black ink on white, strong 3×3 borders, one to six puzzles per page, sized to fit both A4 and US Letter. Solutions, when you include them, print on their own page — four compact answer grids to a row.
